FAQs
Questions people often ask
If you can't find what you're looking for, just ask. I'm always happy to help.
What is a celebrant?
A celebrant is a qualified person who plans, writes and leads a ceremony. For a funeral, I meet the family to learn about the person who has died and create the full ceremony, including tributes, readings and music. For weddings and namings, I create a ceremony around you and your family.
Why have a celebrant for a wedding, civil partnership or naming?
A celebrant-led ceremony gives you a much wider choice of venue and time. It's personalised to your wishes and can include semi-religious or spiritual content. The choice is yours. It's perfect if you'd like something unique and memorable rather than a purely religious ceremony.
Do you include religious content?
Yes, if you'd like it. Many families choose a celebration of life, but religious, semi-religious or spiritual content can be included, such as a prayer or hymn.
Do you follow a particular faith?
No, I don't follow a particular faith, but I'm open-minded to all beliefs and religions. As a yoga teacher my ethos is human kindness.
Where do you work?
I'm happy to travel wherever I'm needed. My fee includes travel within 15 miles of Southend-on-Sea, Essex.
How much are your fees?
| Funeral ceremonies (usually paid through the funeral director) | from £250 |
| Scattering of ashes | from £150 |
| Memorial service | from £450 |
| Wedding or civil partnership celebration | from £700 |
| Renewal of vows | £650 |
| Commitment ceremony | £650 |
| Naming ceremony | from £450 |
Can you visit me at home?
For funerals I'll arrange to meet you and your family at home to gather everything about your loved one. I can also talk by phone or video call, such as FaceTime, Zoom or WhatsApp. If friends or colleagues would like to contribute, I'll contact them too. For couples and namings I'll meet you at home or, if possible, at your venue.
How is a celebrant different from a funeral director?
A funeral director arranges the details and logistics, such as paperwork, transport and caring for the person who has died. A celebrant meets the family, writes and leads the ceremony, and helps with readings, music and poems. We work closely together.
